I took this shot of the city of Perth while walking across the River Tay bridge. You can see the fast streamy water of these low Summer water conditions. Perth is a lovely town where many of our salmon fishing vacation guests like to stay as all Tay salmon beats are within easy driving distance from here.

Salmon Fishing Near Perth

Perth is a highly picturesque Scottish East Coast city which has everything you'd expect from a bigger city but can easily be navigated by foot. Perth has very good restaurants, bars, shopping & many places of interest and is within easy commuting distance of all of the famous lower River Tay salmon fishing venues.

The River Tay In Perth

The beautiful River Tay flows right through the town which adds another dimension of magic to this popular Scottish hub. If you're bringing your family on a River Tay salmon fishing trip then there's plenty of things to do if you're based in or near Perth along with many sites of interest well worth visiting.

If you're in charge of a Scottish salmon beat then you should have a natural desire to maintain your riverbanks in top condition for your visiting salmon fishing guests. This pool is The March Pool on the River Tay near Pitlochry which I had just strimmed when I took this photograph. The tree on the left hand side of frame is a beautiful oak tree and you can just about see the dark coloured fisherman's bench 50 yards down the riverbank.

In addition to the fine attributes of the city of Perth there's also some good hotel options in or nearby the city. From a salmon fishing point of view the famous lower Tay beats of Pitlochrie, Benchil & Catholes are all located approx 15 minutes away by car and salmon can be caught on these famous River Tay salmon fishing venues throughout the River Tay's fishing season from mid January to mid October.
