Booking Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions govern all bookings and services provided by Salmon Fish Scotland Ltd (“we”, “us”, or “our”).
By using this website or purchasing any product or service from Salmon Fish Scotland Ltd, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be legally bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use this website or complete a booking.
Activities arranged by Salmon Fish Scotland Ltd take place in Scotland and are conducted in accordance with applicable Scottish laws and fishery regulations.
1. Definitions
Client
The individual making the booking or purchasing a service.
Service
Any guided salmon fishing day, permit sale, consultation, instruction, or related offering arranged by Salmon Fish Scotland Ltd.
Booking Confirmation
A written email issued by us confirming your reservation, including the fishing venue, date, and professional guide(s) assigned.
2. Booking & Payment Terms
All guided salmon fishing days, permits, or services are subject to availability and are not confirmed until a written Booking Confirmation email has been issued by us.
Full payment is required at the time of booking in order to secure your reservation. This practice is standard across the Scottish salmon fishing industry due to the requirement to reserve fishing rights and guiding services in advance.
Fishing permits and guided services are reserved specifically for the client and are therefore treated as perishable, date-specific bookings.
3. Reservation of Fishing Rights
By confirming a booking, the client acknowledges that the reservation secures exclusive access to fishing rights and professional guiding services for the specified date(s).
Once these rights have been reserved on the client’s behalf, the fishing opportunity cannot be offered to other anglers and the booking therefore represents a commitment to those specific fishing arrangements.
Accordingly, the client accepts that payments made secure access to the fishery and guiding services for the reserved date(s), regardless of whether the client ultimately attends or participates.
4. Cancellation & Refund Policy
All guided salmon fishing bookings represent confirmed reservations for specific dates and fishing beats.
Advance payments are required to secure these arrangements and are used to reserve third-party fishing rights, guiding services, and related logistical commitments.
If you cancel your booking:
• A refund (less card processing fees) will only be issued if the fishing can be successfully re-let at the same value.
• If the fishing is re-let at a reduced rate, the difference between the original booking value and the re-let value will be deducted and the remaining balance refunded.
• If the fishing cannot be re-let, all payments made are non-refundable.
• By confirming a booking, the client accepts that cancellation due to illness, travel disruption, personal circumstances, or scheduling conflicts does not create an automatic entitlement to a refund.
Clients are strongly advised to obtain appropriate travel and cancellation insurance.
5. River Conditions & Fishing Variability
Salmon fishing takes place in a wild and natural environment, and success cannot be guaranteed.
River levels, water temperature, weather conditions, fish movements, and other natural factors may influence fishing conditions on any given day.
No refunds or compensation will be provided due to:
• Poor fishing conditions
• High or low river levels
• Lack of fish activity
• Fish not being caught
Fishing is deemed to have been provided once access to the fishery and guiding services has commenced.
6. River Conditions & Fishery Availability
River height, water clarity, temperature, weather conditions, or fishery management decisions may affect where or how fishing takes place.
Accordingly:
• Fishing may be restricted to certain pools or sections of a beat due to water levels or safety considerations.
• Some areas may be temporarily unfishable due to flooding, drought, or safety concerns.
• Fishing methods may need to be adjusted to comply with conservation measures or fishery regulations.
These circumstances are a normal part of salmon fishing and do not constitute grounds for cancellation, refund, or compensation.
Salmon Fish Scotland Ltd and its guides will always make reasonable efforts to provide the best available fishing opportunity on the day.
7. Service Amendments or Cancellations by Us
We reserve the right to amend arrangements where necessary.
This may include:
• Moving the fishing location if river conditions are unsafe or unsuitable
• Substituting the originally confirmed guide with another suitably qualified professional
• Adjusting fishing times due to weather or safety considerations
In exceptional circumstances where we must cancel a booking entirely, we will offer either:
• A full refund, or
• An alternative fishing date, subject to availability.
8. Conditions Beyond Our Control (Force Majeure)
We shall not be liable for disruption, cancellation, or modification to services caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
These may include but are not limited to:
Adverse weather, flooding, drought, war, pandemics, travel restrictions, government regulations, river closures, guide illness, equipment failure, fuel shortages, industrial action, terrorism, or infrastructure failure.
9. Safety, Liability & Risk Acknowledgement
Salmon fishing involves natural hazards and physical risks associated with river environments.
By participating, clients acknowledge and accept these risks.
All clients must:
• Wear a life jacket at all times when near rivers, lochs, or lakes
• Wear suitable eye protection while fishing or observing fishing activity
Fully serviced life jackets are provided where required.
Except where caused by proven negligence, Salmon Fish Scotland Ltd and its guides shall not be liable for injury, illness, loss, damage, or death arising from participation in fishing activities.
10. Client Conduct
All instructions given by the ghillie or guide must be followed at all times.
Unsafe, aggressive, intoxicated, or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.
Salmon Fish Scotland Ltd and its guides reserve the right to terminate participation and remove any client from the river or fishing venue if behaviour is considered unsafe or inappropriate.
In such circumstances the booking will be terminated and no refund will be issued.
11. Fishing Regulations
All fishing activities are governed by Scottish river-specific conservation policies, which are updated annually by the relevant fishery boards.
Clients must comply with all:
• Local conservation rules
• Catch-and-release requirements
• Permitted fishing methods
• Licensing obligations
Regulations will be explained by your guide.
12. Arrival & Participation
Clients must contact their guide 48 hours prior to the fishing day to confirm attendance.
Unless otherwise arranged, clients should arrive at the designated fishing location or hut by 8:30am.
Late arrivals must notify the guide in advance.
Failure to attend a confirmed booking will be treated as a cancellation and no refund will be issued.
13. River & Environmental Risk Awareness
Fishing in natural river environments carries inherent risks including:
• Uneven terrain and unstable riverbanks
• Slippery rocks and submerged obstacles
• Strong currents and sudden water level changes
• Overhead power lines (carbon rods conduct electricity)
• Sudden weather changes including lightning and strong winds
Clients must pay attention to safety briefings and behave responsibly at all times.
In the event of accidental immersion, remain calm and float feet-first downstream while wearing your life jacket.
14. Chargeback Misuse Policy
By purchasing services from Salmon Fish Scotland Ltd, you agree not to initiate a payment chargeback unless there is clear evidence of fraud or non-delivery of the booked service.
Using a chargeback to avoid the agreed Cancellation & Refund Policy may constitute a breach of these Terms & Conditions.
In the event of a chargeback we reserve the right to:
• Submit full documentation and evidence to the payment provider
• Recover funds through legal action or debt collection where appropriate
Any disputes must first be raised directly with us via:

before contacting a payment provider.
15. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Scotland.
Any disputes arising from these Terms or from the use of services provided by Salmon Fish Scotland Ltd shall be subject to Scottish law, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
